Fellow snowmobilers, hopefully by the time that you are reading this there will be some snow on the ground or at least in the extended forecast. At the clubhouse, we’re preparing for another successful riding season, and before you know it, we’ll be out opening gates as early as December 15th!
Some of you may have heard that we released a new and updated trail map last season. Since the release of our last map a few years prior, several changes have occurred to our trail system. We encourage you to pick up a copy of the new map at the locations listed on the Trail Maps page of our website or to have us mail you a map!
In other news, the new HD webcam at the Jericho Warming Hut is finally operational. Be sure to check it out and the amazing view that it captures on the Webcams page of our website. The warming hut now also offers free public WiFi.
Lastly, if you have not already done so, I encourage you all to join the club. Memberships help keep up our trail improvement projects and continue to provide a nice and flat riding surface in and out of the Berlin area. The club can be joined by printing a form online from our website and mailing it, at local snowmobile registration stations, or online through the NHSA portal.
All of us at the club are hoping that the 2018-2019 season is as great of a season as the forecasts predict. Please keep an eye on our Trail Conditions page on our website throughout the season for the latest trail conditions! Also, stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for upcoming events! Thanks again for all of your support and, as always, we look forward to seeing you all out on the trails!

Greetings snowmobilers! I would like to start off this club news update with a huge thank-you from all of us at the White Mt Ridge Runners for another awesome season. We are also extremely grateful for all the support we have received this season including all the club membership renewals, donations, and our great sponsors, which we encourage you to support and patronize.
Overall, the 2017-2018 season has been a good season in terms of riding conditions. As of right now (late February), most trails are in fair to good condition, however, a bit more snow could definitely turn things around again and keep the trails open well into March. Please keep an eye on our trail conditions page on the website. The trail conditions page is updated regularly as conditions change. A huge thank you to groomer operator Shaun Roy for posting the conditions on the website and also to all the groomer operators for providing the conditions as well as comments from along their grooming routes.
The 2018 WMRR annual cookout fundraiser, held February 17th at the clubhouse, was a huge success. We would like to thank all of those who attended, our hard-working and committed group of club volunteers for helping to make this event happen, and the local businesses who provided donations to assist with this event. We received great feedback of the event via Facebook and many posted some awesome event photos! Another important guest to the event was Wheeler, a local mascot for the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce. Many uploaded photos to Facebook with Wheeler at the event for their chance to win tickets to the Jericho ATV Festival! Here are a few images from the cookout.
As some of you may know, this club news update will be our last update of the season published in Sno-Traveler. We will continue to update you on any other happenings, trail work, and club news via our website. After mud season, I hope to get the Jericho Warming Hut webcam up and running for all to view. The Warming Hut power system has been performing great thanks to the new battery bank and lots of sunshine. We hope that you enjoy the Warming Hut during the off season and that you sign our guestbook! There is also a donation box at the Warming Hut and we really appreciate any and all donations to help us cover costs of maintaining the hut, including the cost of the new batteries and camera system.
We will be continuing to hold club meetings for the remainder of the season and we invite you to join us at these monthly meetings which are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Meetings are located at our clubhouse at 241 Jericho Road in Berlin and reminders will be posted on our website at least a week in advance. New this year; sign up on the homepage of our website for email reminders for club meetings and events! Our active members and volunteers are what helps to make this club as successful as it is! Please be sure to keep up with our Trail Conditions page throughout the remainder of the season on our website for the latest trail info, conditions, and closings. Thanks again for your support! We look forward to seeing you all next season!

Hello all, we are pleased to announce that even with the warm and rainy weather in mid-January, our trails have held up quite well. The combination of rain and snow loss caused significant flooding throughout our trail system, causing us to close the trails for a couple of days until all trails could be inspected for safety. Thankfully, little to no damage was caused to our trails, other than the partial loss of base snow. Even with this loss, however, most trails have remained in Fair to Good condition and could easily be brought back to Great condition with a bit more snow.
At the club, we are ready for the WMRR Cookout, which will be held on February 17th from 11am to 3pm at our clubhouse on Jericho Rd in Berlin, NH. The Cookout, formerly a Steak Feed, is our only fundraising event of the season and we appreciate all who have helped to make this event a success in the past. Come join us for a burger, sausage sub, or hot dogs, and possibly win a prize or money in our raffles. We would like to thank all of our supporters and sponsors in advance for what will presumably be another great club event! Stay tuned to the website and our Facebook page for photos from the event.
At the warming hut, the club has invested in new batteries for the photovoltaic system. The old batteries were several years old and ended up freezing early this winter. With the new batteries, we are now able to power not only the radio and lights, but also the new camera system which will be used to monitor the warming hut and deter any vandalism, which has unfortunately happened in the past. We would like to thank those who have helped the club by donating to help cover the cost of the new batteries. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!
For those of you who haven’t already heard, the NHSA’s membership portal is back online! This means that you can now join our club online from anywhere and receive instant proof of membership. In addition to this method, we still graciously accept membership forms by mail and our club can also be easily joined at the local businesses listed on our Join page of the website.
We invite you to join us at our monthly meetings which are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm. All of us at the club would like to thank our members and sponsors for making the 2017- 2018 season and previous seasons great. Please be sure to keep up with our Trail Conditions page throughout the season on our website for the latest trail info and conditions updated by our very own groomer operators! Thanks again for all of your support and, as always, we look forward to continuing to see you all out on the trails and at club events!

Greetings snowmobilers, hopefully you’ve had a chance to enjoy some of the excellent early season riding conditions that we have had in Coos County. December proved to be snowy (and cold) which has helped us to build a solid base on most of our trails. Right out of the gate on December 15th , the groomers were able to get out and pack most trails. A few more sizable late December snowstorms brought more snow for the groomer operators to work with and fill water bars with. At the club, we are gearing up for the WMRR Steak Feed, which will be held on February 17th from 11am to 3pm at our clubhouse on Jericho Rd in Berlin, NH. The Steak Feed is our only fundraising event of the season and we appreciate all who have helped to make this event a success in the past. Come join us for an excellent steak, burger, or our new item, steak tips, and possibly win a prize or money in our raffles. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for more info!
In terms of trail conditions, things are looking up. As I am writing this (Late December), our sections of Corridor 19 and 11 are in good condition with 2-8” of base. Our Primary and Club trails are also looking good with just the Cates Hill and Nay Pond trails still closed due to the many downed trees caused by the wind storm earlier this year, and thin snow cover. The groomer operators and trail maintenance hands are hard at work to remove these downed trees
and by the time that you read this, the entire trail system should be opened. The club’s third groomer, a PistenBully, has been instrumental in the downed tree removal process. The operators have used the machine to push fallen trees out of the trail, making for a faster overall
trail-opening process.
At the warming hut, the club has stocked the hut with firewood for all to enjoy. We are currently having electrical system issues at the warming hut, however. The batteries have become discharged and frozen and will likely need to be replaced. We will be looking into replacement battery banks in the future that will allow us to store enough energy to power the existing lights and radio as well as the new camera and webcam system and wireless internet
access.
At the clubhouse, the old Stardot webcam has been working great. I was able to increase the resolution of the camera to make the image output larger. This webcam can be viewed on our website on the Webcams page and the image is updated every minute during daylight hours. The clubhouse also now has wireless guest internet access for club members to utilize when visiting the clubhouse.
As always, we would like to encourage you to attend our monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm at our clubhouse at 241 Jericho Road in Berlin. Meeting reminders will be posted on our website and Facebook page at least a week in advance. New this year; sign up on the homepage of our website for email reminders for club meetings and events! Fellow snowmobilers, hopefully by the time you are reading this there will be snow on the ground. I would like to start off by wishing everyone a happy holiday season from all of us at the White Mt Ridge Runners. In terms of wind storm damage, we were very fortunate to only receive minor damage such as downed trees and very minor bridge damage. Club volunteers are gearing up for our next upcoming event, the WMRR Steak Feed, which will be held in February at our clubhouse on Jericho Rd in Berlin, NH. The Steak Feed is our only fundraising event of the season and we appreciate all who have helped to make this event a success in the past. Come join us for an excellent steak or burger and possibly win a prize or money in our raffles. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for more info!
At the clubhouse, our excellent groomer maintenance team has been hard at work ensuring that our PistenBully and Tucker groomers are in tip-top shape for the season. We received some very positive feedback from a snowmobile club in Central Maine that purchased our old 2002 Tucker groomer from a dealership. They were particularly impressed with how meticulously the machine was maintained and have had no major issues with the machine. So be sure to thank our groomer mechanics and operators for their hard work in keeping the machines out on the trails all season!
In other news, the club voted to invest in the security system at the Jericho Warming Hut. Taking the lead on this project, I was able to stretch the budget and accomplish two additional projects. The old digital video recorder (DVR), which had video storage constraints was replaced with a network DVR with a dedicated hard drive. A 360 degree HD webcam was also purchased and is in the process of being installed at the warming hut. This webcam should be up and running as soon as the internet provider installs a wireless internet radio at the warming hut. As a result of these upgrades, the warming hut will also offer public WiFi. Stay tuned to our site for updates regarding this project!
At the clubhouse, I was able to get the old Stardot webcam to work thanks to resources provided by Jericho Outdoors and Rays Electric, both of Berlin. The webcam sends an image to an FTP server every minute during daylight hours and can be viewed on the Webcams page of our website. The clubhouse also now has wireless guest internet access for club members to utilize when visiting the clubhouse. Overall, these tech projects have turned out to be successful and we are anxious to get the warming hut webcam online in the future for all to see on our new redesigned website.
As always, we would like to encourage you to attend our monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm at our clubhouse at 241 Jericho Road in Berlin. Meeting reminders will be posted on our website and Facebook page at least a week in advance. Our active members and volunteers are what helps to make this club as successful as it is! We are always open to new ideas and new faces.
Lastly, if you have not already done so, I encourage you all to join the club so we can keep up our trail improvement projects, and most importantly, provide a nice and flat riding surface in and out of the Berlin area. The club can be joined by printing a form online from our website and mailing it, or at local snowmobile registration stations. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for our new trail maps that our club officers and volunteers have been hard at work on. All map purchases and memberships help to support the club and the trails that you ride on. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors that support our club every year. A list of our sponsors is available on the links page of our site and we ask that you please support our sponsors!

Fall Update 2017:

Hello fellow snowmobilers! Word has it that the 2017-2018 season is going to be another great one. I'm sure that many of you, like myself, are excited to get out and ride the trails. Not only are the White Mountain Ridge Runners gearing up for another successful season, we have also revamped our website. We were able to integrate many of the features and all of the content of the old site while also making the site mobile friendly and streamlining the trail conditions update process for the groomer operators. Making the trail conditions easier to update means that you can expect much more up to date trail conditions to be posted frequently. Not only is the new site making things easier for the club, but it is cheaper to maintain and will support future additions such as a webstore, webcams, and text message and email club meeting reminders. In addition to the new website excitement, I’d like to remind all of you to beat the late Fall/Winter rush and join the club early this year. Joining early helps us to cover the costs of various trail projects and trail maintenance before snow flies and ensures that you will receive your NHSA voucher in time to register your snowmobiles. Whether you ride a brand new snowmobile, an antique, or don't ride at all, we feel that the club has something to offer for everyone. As some of you may have heard, online memberships through the NHSA’s portal are currently down, so please be sure to mail your form in. Membership forms are available to download and print on our website. We hope to support online club memberships in the near future through our new site.
As many of you may know, our clubhouse webcam has been down for quite some time now. The old webcam used dial up internet service to upload a picture every hour during daylight. The camera stopped working around the time that I took over the website a few years ago and we haven't been able to get it online since. For the past year or so, instead of working towards fixing the camera at the clubhouse, I've envisioned setting up a webcam at the Warming Hut, which is at a much higher elevation than the clubhouse. This would serve to be a more accurate depiction of the actual trail conditions in the mountains of the area and would be particularly helpful to early and late season riders. This project will be a bit of a challenge and we may seek support and/or donations/sponsorships in the future to help us make this a reality. Lastly, I’d like to take a moment to encourage our club members to attend our monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm at the clubhouse on Jericho Road in Berlin. Meeting reminders will be posted on our website at least a week in advance. Active club members are what makes this club possible. There are many ways to contribute including: attending meetings, joining us for trail work days, or volunteering at one of our fundraising events such as the Steak Feed in February. Hope to see you all on the trails and at club events! Ride safe!
