Snowmobiles Sink In Lake Winnipesaukee
July 5, 2008

Meredith, N.H. -- Two people face charges after zipping snowmobiles across crowded New Hampshire's Lake Winnipesaukee this holiday weekend.

The New Hampshire Marine Patrol said it had to pull one snowmobile driver from the water Friday evening after getting a report that he was zipping through Meredith Bay in heavy boat traffic. The snowmobile sank and the driver, 20-year-old Jonathan Miller of Wolfeboro, was charged with reckless conduct. Marine Patrol said Miller was wearing a life vest and a helmet that had a video camera attached.

A short time later, officers got a report of a second snowmachine in the bay. It also sank. Marine Patrol said it has identified the driver, and charges are pending.

Both snowmobiles were recovered.
