Comments Requested for Trail Reroute in Twin Mountain

September 10, 2008

A 30-day comment period on the proposed Pipeline-Haystack Snowmobile Trail Connector through the WMNF has been released by the Pemigewasset Ranger District.

This project proposes construction of a 1.2 mile snowmobile connector trail on WMNF land in the Haystack Road area in Bethlehem.  This trail will connect Corridor 11 to a deeded snowmobile right of way trail on private land, ensuring long-term snowmobile access to the community of Twin Mountain.

This new trail follows an existing pipeline right of way for over .5 miles and does not cross a lot of wetlands.  Click on the link below to read the entire report from the WMNF:

Based on the comments received, the WMNF District Ranger will determine if this project can be excluded from doing a full-blown environmental impact statement.

Given the fact that this trail is mainly following existing cleared rights of way, only proposes .2 miles of new trail and does have any major environmental impacts, your comments should recommend that the District Ranger approve the project without an environmental impact statement.
