Vintage Race and Poker Run at the Balsams - Mar. 27 & 28

March 17, 2009

Snowmobile enthusiasts, you will not want to miss this: two full days of exciting events featuring snowmobiles from the year 1973 and older

Saturday’s events will take place at the ski lodge and will include a timed race on a challenging track, a hill climb on one of  our Black Diamond slopes, and a water crossing.

Hungry?  Our renowned BALSAMS chefs will prepare a delicious BBQ lunch on the deck, and a visit to the beer and wine tent is always appropriate.

On Sunday snowmobilers will have an opportunity to experience the BALSAMS’ trail system as the BALSAMS/Wilderness hosts its first-ever poker run on our 8,000+ acre estate.

A portion of the proceeds from these events will benefit the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital.

3/22/10 - Just got this email, so it looks like poker run on cross country trails is cancelled...

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Spring Mountain Madness at The BALSAMS.
Unfortunately, while in the initial planning stages we did consider opening
the cross country trails to snowmobiles, the management has decided against
it. I am sorry if you were given the impression that a definite decision
had been made in favor of allowing snowmobiles on our trail system.

Regarding the hill climb, this will be available to riders with vintage-era
sleds who register for the event, but we cannot allow those who are not
participating in the competition to ride on the mountain.

Sorry to be the bearer of disappointing news. I hope this doesn't affect
your plans to come up - the event is sure to be a great time!

PS:  We just got an email stating the Poker Run was cancelled due to lack of snow on the lower elevations of cross country trails.
