Developer Planning
Hotel Next to WMRR Clubhouse

BERLIN — A Berlin developer has unveiled his preliminary plans
to construct an 80-room hotel on Jericho Road. Alan McLain met with the Berlin
Planning Board Tuesday to discuss the preliminary workings of building a hotel
in the city, and let it know the project would be coming before them for further
site plan review in the future.
“It’s been long in the works,” said McLain. McLain said he currently has a
purchase and sales agreement for a 120-acre parcel of property on Jericho Road,
across from the former Bass Shoe building.
Currently, McLain said he’s working to join the Comfort Inn chain to build and
operate a three floor hotel that can house around 300 guests.
The hotel will include a function hall, pool and other amenities. The hotel will
be along the A.T.V.
and snowmobile trail corridor, and be next to Jericho Park, said McLain.
This particular site has ready access to water and sewer lines, he said. As for
the construction phase,
McLain said he’s looking at a designbuild project. He added he hasn’t locked
down a timeline but hopes to have it open in the fall or spring.
